IPL 2020: MS Dhoni gives statement over next planning of team after 7th defeat

Sharjah: Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, after his seventh consecutive defeat in the Indian Premier League (IPL 2020), said his team needs to look into the process, not the result and for that, he will have to take concrete steps in further bouts.

The Chennai team came to bat first against Rajasthan Royals (RR) and lost five wickets to make it to 125 runs. In reply, Rajasthan Royals achieved the target by losing three wickets. Chennai has just six points in ten matches and is in danger of not reaching the playoffs for the first time in IPL. Dhoni said after the match, "The result is not always suited to you. We'll have to see if the process was wrong. This is the result of this process. It is a fact that if you focus on the process, the unwarranted pressure on the result does not fall on the team. We are trying to deal with it."

Dhoni had completed the bowling quota of Deepak Chahar and Josh Hazlewood in the first nine overs. He said that like the first innings, the spinners were not getting much help in the second innings. Dhoni said, "The fast bowlers were getting some help. So I got an over in the middle to see how much the ball stopped coming to the bat. It wasn't like the first innings so I made more overs than the fast bowlers. I don't think the spinners were getting a lot of help'.
