Regarding this special case, the official website says that the new BS6 XUV500 will no longer be given the W3 variant, which is the entry-level model of the car. This car will now start with the W5 variant and will be launched in four trims. In addition to the W5 variants, the XUV500 will be launched at W7, W9 and W11 (O) trim levels. However, Mahindra is no longer offering all wheel drive (AWD) systems in the BS6 model.

The current 2.2 liter diesel engine has now been equipped with the new BS6 emission standards. This engine generates power of 153 bhp at 3,750 rpm and 360 Nm of torque at 1,750-2,800 rpm. The engine is equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission and a 6-speed automatic transmission. Mahindra is also offering automatic transmission as an option in the W7, W9 and W11 (O) variants. In this, only the base version will not come with an automatic transmission.
