PUNJAB: In a major administrative overhaul, the Punjab government has implemented a major reshuffle involving four IAS officers who were serving as Deputy Commissioners in various districts. The changes were announced in an official statement from the chief secretary. Kulwant Singh, who previously held the position of Deputy Commissioner and Commissioner of the Municipal Corporation in Moga, has been appointed as the new Deputy Commissioner for Mansa. He takes over from Paramvir Singh, as per the latest orders issued on Thursday. In addition, Vishesh Sarangal, who was serving as the Deputy Commissioner of Gurdaspur, will now be moving to Moga. He will continue his duties as Commissioner of the Municipal Corporation there. Uma Shankar Gupta, who was formerly the Director of Local Government, is now the Deputy Commissioner of Gurdaspur, stepping into Sarangal’s previous role. Rajesh Tripathi, who was the Additional Secretary of Revenue and Rehabilitation and Director of Land Records in Jalandhar, has been designated as the new Deputy Commissioner of Muktsar. He replaces Harpreet Singh Sudan, whose new assignment will be announced in due course. This strategic reshuffling of administrative roles is designed to leverage the unique skills and expertise of each officer to better address the diverse and evolving needs of their respective districts. By aligning officers' placements with their strengths and experience, the government aims to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in local governance.
