Mamata Banerjee's big statement says, Instead of bowing down to BJP, I would like to cut throat.

Kolkata: The state's CM Mamata Banerjee's response to the sloganeering during the birth anniversary celebrations of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose on January 23 in Kolkata, West Bengal has come to the fore. Addressing a public meeting in Hooghly on Monday, Trinamool Congress (TMC) Mamata Banerjee lashed out at the BJP over the issue. He even said, "I would like to cut my throat instead of bowing my head before the BJP."

It may be noted that cm Mamata had refused to make a speech at the Netaji Jayanti celebrations at the Victoria Memorial on January 23 when people in the crowd raised slogans of Jai Sriram. On Monday, Mamata Banerjee said, "They have insulted me in the presence of PM Narendra Modi. I trust in politics, not in guns. The BJP has disrespected Netaji and Bengal," he said.

Mamata Banerjee added, "If you had hailed leader Subhas Chandra Bose, I would salute you. But if you try to put me at gun point, I know how to counterattack. On that day, he (the audience) insulted Bengal."
