New Delhi: Opposition parties have already started gearing up for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Interim Congress President Sonia Gandhi has convened a big meeting on August 20. This will include leaders of like-minded parties. The meeting will be held on a virtual platform. Sources said Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will also be present at the meeting. Several opposition party leaders, including Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo Mamata Banerjee, have been invited to attend the meeting. It may be recalled that CM Mamata, who visited Delhi for the first time after the Vidhasanbha elections, had met interim Congress President Sonia Gandhi. He had also met senior Congress leader Kamal Nath and other leaders. The two leaders had agreed to work together. TMC is constantly trying to unite opposition parties against the BJP. Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren has also agreed to attend the meeting. Senior Congress leader and lawyer by profession Kapil Sibal had held a meeting with leaders of opposition parties at his residence in this regard.
