New Delhi: West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee has opposed the central government's decision to reduce the interest rate on Provident Fund (EPF) deposits to 8.1 per cent for the financial year 2021-22 of the Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO). Mamata Banerjee criticised the Modi government at the Centre, calling the decision anti-people and anti-labour. Mamata Banerjee tweeted, "After the victory in Uttar Pradesh, the BJP government has immediately brought its gift card. The central government has pushed the interest rate on Employees' Provident Fund deposits to the lowest level in the last four decades. This proposal exposes the real face of the Bharatiya Janata Party. The proposal comes at a time when the middle and lower-middle-class workers and employees of the country are already going through an economic problem due to the Corona epidemic." Mamata Banerjee made several tweets one after the other. Banerjee further said, "The BJP is described as anti-people and anti-workers and said, "This step is in opposition to the workers and the people. It also exposes the brutal and unilateral public policy of the central government, which protects the interests of the businessmen by ignoring the farmers, labourers and the middle class. All the opposition parties have to come together to oppose this black law."
