West Bengal: A man was detained after he allegedly admitted to killing his wife by cutting her body into 2 pieces and drowning them in the Mahananda river canal in West Bengal's Siliguri, police said. The culprit identified as Mohammad Ansarul made this admission during police interrogation, 10 days after his wife had gone missing. On December 24 of last year, the family of the dead Renuka Khatun reported her missing. The husband of Renuka, Md Ansarul, revealed during questioning that he killed his wife, chopped her in half, and dumped her body parts in the Mahananda canal in the Phansidewa block under Siliguri. The victim's family claims that Ansarul killed his wife as a result of "family issues". A relative of Renuka's named Selim said, "We learned that Renuka Khatun's husband, Ansarul, had killed her and had dumped her body parts in the Mahananda river canal. They got married four years ago, and ever since then, their family has experienced some issues. We want him to be hanged". The local police has started a search operation with the assistance of civil defence personnel to locate and retrieve the body parts. "We have not seen anything yet till yesterday night. The team will initiate a search operation today again," the police official said. ‘Murder over sleeping space’, Rickshaw Puller killed a man at a religious place 'Hindu religion is not good,' accused arrested for trying to convert 40 Hindus to Christianity UP man cuts veins of paramour’s hand, leaves her bleeding
