Man forced to drink urine; 6 arrested in Jalore

Jodhpur: A group of villagers in Rajasthan's Jalore district allegedly/reportedly caught a man who had come to visit a girl, tied him to a tree, beat him and poured urine into his mouth, police said on Tuesday.

Six persons have been detained as a result of the social media exposure of the assault's video. They also filed a complaint against the man under the POCSO Act, which protects children from sexual offences.

The victim  allegedly travelled to a neighbouring village on Sunday night to meet a girl. He was captured by the townspeople and the girl's relatives, who then violently beat him while tying him to a tree,policee said.

The man's family members arrived at the scene after learning of the situation and begged the crowd to spare their loved one. However, the villagers allegedly doused him with urine before letting him go with a warning. Harshvardhan Agarwalla, SP (Jalore), reported that a video of the event became viral on Monday.

Although no one came forward to register an FIR, we were able to locate the victim, speak with him, and obtain a FIR from him, said to Agarwalla. 6 persons in connection with the incident have been detained, he said.

The girl he had gone to meet has also filed a complaint against him under the POCSO Act. He added that after her statement is recorded, a more thorough inquiry will begin, he said.
