On Friday, a decomposed body of woman was found inside refrigerator of a rented house in Dewas district, Madhya Pradesh. The victim Pinky alias Pratibha Prajapati’s body was in the refrigerator for nearly six months now. She must have been killed in June last year.
Being pressured for marriage by the woman, a married man allegedly killed her. The man named Sanjay Patidar rented the house in Vrindavan Dham colony of Dewas where he murdered his live-in partner. The house is owned by Dhirendra Shrivastava. The deceased woman was saree clad and worn jewelry, her body tied along with a noose around her neck and rotting inside a refrigerator.
According to Dewas Superintendent of Police, Puneet Gehlot the 41 year old Sanjay Patidar was living in a rented house in Dewas since June 2023 which he vacated it in 2024. However, he left his belongings in a study room and master bedroom. Patidar had told his landlord Shrivastava, that he would vacate the remaining portion after some time. He used to visit the house occasionally after that.
Since six months, the neighbors were unaware about the horror. The crime only surfaced after neighbors complained of a foul smell from the house. Due to a power cut, the refrigerator stopped working which led to foul smell emanate from the house. They quickly told house owner about the matter.
The accused Sanjay Patidar hails from Ujjain. He was in a live-in relationship with Pratibha since past five years. He rented the house in Dewas in June 2023 and shifted with her, telling the neighbors that Pratibha was his wife. Confirming to which, the neighbors said that the woman wasn’t seen since March 2024. Their relationship started faltering when Pratibha started forcing Sanjay for marriage to which he refused. The couple constantly argued about the same.
Sanjay had told everyone that Pratibha’s father had suffered a heart attack and she had gone to her parents’ home. He used to visit the house every 15 days to check the decomposing body and had even paid rent for two months.
The police have arrested accused Sanjay Patidar for allegedly murdering the woman from Ujjain, where he was currently residing. The probe in the matter is still on. The post-mortem examination is conducted by the doctors and evidence has been collected from the crime scene.
