Dehradun: A man has been arrested for threatening and abusing Indian Farmers Union (BKU) spokesperson Rakesh Tikait. According to the Ghaziabad police, the man had made two calls to farmer leader Rakesh Tikait on Saturday night. He had abused and threatened Tikait on the phone. According to the agency, Head Constable Nitin Sharma, who is guarding Tikait, has lodged an FIR with Kaushambi police station in Ghaziabad. Police examined the call data and traced Surendra Rawat, an accused from Karnprayag town in Uttarakhand. Senior Superintendent of Police Pawan Kumar has informed the media of the matter. Kumar said Rawat was immediately summoned by the local police when he was arrested and questioned. SSP informed that he apologized in writing to the police saying that he had called Tikait in an inebriated state. Tikait had received two threatening calls before. In an investigation of previous calls, the police came to know that the accused had called Rakesh Tikait about the farmers' protest, which he was leading.
