Manipur hospitals to resume OPD services soon

The Manipur government has decided to resume OPD (outpatient department) services in hospitals. Centre-run Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) and the State-run Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) in Imphal will resume their OPD services shortly.

RIMS Director A Santa said, “The OPD service, as well as the other operations, will be resumed in RIMS within the shortest possible time considering the inconvenience faced by the general public."

RIMS authority is taking up all the necessary measures prior to the reopening of the OPD services. The authority  will also sanitize the different wards of the hospital apart . The OPD services at the RIMS have been affected since July after some officials and staff of the institute tested positive for corona. Similarly, OPD and emergency and casualty services besides new admissions remain disrupted at the JNIMS since mid-October this year as at least 148 healthcare professionals of the institute tested positive for the deadly virus. JNIMS authority is also planning to resume OPD services soon once certain technical issues are settled.
