Manipur records highest single-day spike of 426 corona cases

Corona is wreaking havoc in Manipur as its cases are creating a new record daily. The northeastern state  on Saturday reported the highest ever single-day tally of 426 corona cases, taking the coronavirus caseload in the state to 15,141.  The cumulative number of deaths is 111. The cumulative number of positive cases is 15,141 while the numbers of active and recovered cases are 3,587 and 11,443 respectively and recovery rate in 75.57%.

According to COVID19 common control room in a press release on Saturday, Manipur recorded 416 persons from the general population and 10 personnel from Central Armed Police Force(CAPF) were confirmed as new COVID19 positive cases. The new positive cases were confirmed at 25 testing facilities in the state. Talkking about the cases from the general population are from Imphal West(181), Imphal  East (124), Thoubal (24), Jiribam ((1), Kamjong (5), Kangpokpi (2), Tengnoupal, Ukhrul (5), Kakching (3), Chandel (3), Tamenglong (26), Churachandpur (19), Tengnoupal (7), Senapati (1) and Bishnupur.

2 persons including an 82-year-old male and 63-year-old female expired at Shija Hospital and Jivan hospital respectively In the last 24 hours. The statement further added that 198 persons were discharged from 18 COVID care facilities in last 24 hours after they were found COVID19 free on RT PCR test. So far 4,10,729 people were screened at various entry points of the state while 3,18,036 samples were tested for COVID19, according to the latest official reports.
