Manohar Parrikar tweeted 'Human mind can overcome any disease' on World Cancer Day

New Delhi: Four-time Goa CM and former Defence Minister, Parrikar passed away at his private residence in Panaji on Sunday after a prolonged battle with a pancreatic ailment. He was 63. The 63-year-old political leader, who was diagnosed with a life-threatening disease in February last year, had undergone medical treatment at various hospitals in Delhi, Mumbai, Goa and the US. Parrikar who died due to pancreatic ailment once said that our mind can overcome any disease.

 “Human mind can overcome any disease #WorldCancerDay,” late Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, who passed away on Sunday evening, had tweeted this message on World Cancer Day, which is observed on February 4.

Despite his poor health condition, Parrikar continued to hold the post of Goa CM and also held several meetings. In January, ailing Parrikar also attended the Goa Assembly session and presented the state budget with a tube in his nose.

the Chief Minister Office of Goa on Saturday in a tweet informed that Parrikar's health condition was extremely critical. It also informed about Parrikar’s demise on Sunday by tweeting, “We inform with deep grief that our beloved Chief Minister of Goa Shri. Manohar Parrikar passed away today evening, after a spirited battle against cancer.”

President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed their grief on deminse of CM.  The state government also declared one day holiday, and seven-day mourning period following Parrikar’s demise.
