Yes it’s a big day for the Indian film industry as the legendary icon actor Rajinikanth turns 67 years old and is still the undisputed King of entertainment. While fans of the superstar, lovingly called Thalaiva, gathered outside his house in Chennai for his special day, Twitter is flooding with birthday wishes for Rajinikanth. Many celebrities such as Amitabh Bachchan, Karan Johar, Akshay Kumar, Abhishek Bachchan, Sivakarthikeyan, Suresh Raina wished the superstar.Kaala marks the 164th film of Rajinikanth’s storied career. The Sivaji: The Boss actor essays the role of a man who hails from Tamil Nadu but escapes to Mumbai. It traces his journey to becoming the righteous gangster from the Dharavi slums in the financial capital of the country.
Rajinikanth shall ditch a lavish celebration for a secret outing for the third consecutive year. In 2015, the damage to life and property after the Chennai floods led the actor to call off his birthday party while it was the death of fomer Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa for which the actor discouraged his fans from celebrating his birthday in their ritualistic manner. This year too, Cyclone Ochki hit the coastal city hard and claimed the lives of around 40 fishermen and 500 are still said to be missing. However, prayer meets for the star’s welfare have been organized this year by his ardent followers.
Besides Pa Ranjith’s Kaala, Rajinikanth is also filming for 2.0 directed by Shankar starring Akshay Kumar, Amy Jackson which is to hit the screens early next year.
