Maratha Reservation Row: 21-year-old man commits suicide for not getting employed

 

Aurangabad (Maharashtra) [India], Aug 3 (NT): A 21-year-old man allegedly committed suicide in Chilkalthana area in Maharashtra's Aurangabad on Thursday over the wicked issue of Maratha reservation, as Surendra Mattharthe, Inspector, Aurangabad police station informed.

Police recovered the suicide note in which the man apologized to his parents, citing he did not get a job even after having a BSc degree. It is noted that the dead man took part in a variety of protests regarding Maratha reservation. He was sad that being a Maratha he didn't get a job while others got employed.

So far, 14 people have reportedly committed suicide in Maharashtra regarding Maratha reservation.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Thursday said that his government signed the joint statement which will provide reservation to Marthas in accordance with law.

After conducting a meeting with state leaders from diverse sections, Fadnavis yesterday stated that state Government stands in absolute support for Maratha Reservation and we are following a necessary process to do it at first.

The Maratha communities have been protesting across the state demanding quota in government jobs and education.

The key demands of the communities are decision on the Maratha reservation at the earliest including all cases against Maratha protesters be taken back. Apart from this action against the officers responsible for firing and lathi charge during July 25 protest and resignation or sacking of ministers MLAs who gave reckless statements against Maratha community.

In additio the group has also been demanding loan waiver, justice in Kopardi rape case and a solution to unemployment in their community. (NT)
