Indian markets opened higher on Wednesday, 4 November. Global markets also rallied ahead of the US Election results. Dow Jones had seen a solid rally on Tuesday and Wednesday moved up to further gains as Dow Futures jumped almost 1.5 percent. In Asia, most of the stock was higher. The BSE Sensex is up 214 points at 40472, and the NSE Nifty added 52 points at 11868 at around 10.10 am. Sun Pharma, Infosys, IndusInd Bank, Wipro and Britannia are the top gainers on the Nifty while UPL Axis Bank, Hindalco, ICICI Bank and PowerGrid are the major losers. Among the sectors, IT and pharma index added half a percent each while the midcap and small-cap indices are trading flat. Shares in multiplex PVR gained 5 percent even after the company posted a consolidated loss at Rs 183.9 crore in Q2FY21 against a profit of Rs 47.9 crore, revenue declined to Rs 40.4 crore from Rs 973.2 crore. Shares of Adani Gas were higher after the company reported net profits at Rs 136 crore in Q2FY21 against Rs 120 crore. Among sectoral indices, the Nifty IT index witnessed the most gains, trading over 2 percent higher followed by Nifty Pharma, Nifty Metal, Nifty Media and Nifty Auto. Nifty PSU Bank and Nifty Financial Services were trading in the red.
