Lucknow: A company in Uttar Pradesh's Kanpur has ordered a company to pay Rs 10,000 as compensation to the complainant in a case of a substance like a piece of meat floating in a bottle of cold drink ordered at a wedding ceremony. Also, a separate litigation expenditure of Rs 5000 should be deposited. A bench of District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission Chairman Bikanu Ram and member Neelam Yadav passed the order while hearing both sides in the complaint filed 15 years ago. Rajendra Kumar Gupta, a resident of GT Road Chungi, Ruma, had lodged a complaint that on August 17, 2007, he had bought six bottles of cold drinks from the general store in Chandranagar. A piece of meat was found floating in a bottle of this cold drink. The general store owner did not listen to the complaint. And in the investigation, it was revealed that mildew was found in the piece. After which Rajendra Kumar filed a complaint against cold drink seller General Store Owner, C&SF and the company. It was alleged that drinking cold drinks worsened his health and had to be admitted to the hospital. The wife pleaded that the complainant died in the middle of the trial. The order was issued on the basis of evidence.
