Meet Ashish Joshi, the man who feeds Aurangabad’s hungry stray dogs.

Heroes without capes.

Amidst this global lockdown due to the COVID-19, we have come across many things and one such thing is that we do have “Heroes” among ourselves. Sometimes, we see them helping poor and needy migrants or sometimes rescuing the help-less animals. The most beautiful thing is that they are doing all these great things quietly while we are sitting in our homes.

Who is Ashish Joshi?

Here, we are talking about one such hero, Ashish Joshi. Ashish is an undergraduate student who lives in Aurangabad and has been feeding the hungry stray dogs of his locality as he noticed that when well-fed, the issues arising due to them come under control to a great extent. When he saw that he is succeeding in working for this beautiful cause, he moved a step ahead and along with his friends Chinmay Divekar, Adinath Baladhye and Sumit Ghodke started sterilising these dogs with regular medication.

Working for a cause.

Ashish has helped a number of dogs taking care of their diet and medication. Talking about his initiative, he says with a glee in his eyes that he always wanted to work for a cause and when one day while returning from college, two years ago, saw a dog fetching for food in a dustbin along the roadside for her litter, who while crossing the road got ran over by a vehicle in front of Ashish's eyes, who was taken aback watching how easily a man could decide that these little lives were worthless. That's what made Ashish decide to dedicate his life in working for these strays. More than sixty dogs residing in areas of Vishwabharti Colony, Vinayak Housing Society, Niranjan Grihanirman Sanstha, are fed and looked after by Ashish and his friends and hundreds of dogs have been sterilised by them.

A selfless mission.

The most applaudable thing about his initiative is that they do not get funded by any organisation and have been organising all these things from their own pocket-money. This shows their love for these innocent creatures. Recalling one incident, Ashish tells us a story how he rescued a puppy had got hit by a car alongwith her family. While all died, she survived but got paralysed, Ashish rescued her and took care of her diet and medication at his own home. After some time, the dog started to walk and run on his two legs like a Kangaroo. Ashish is taking care of one more such dog and both of them have been recovered from their wounds because of his efforts.

As of now, Ashish is taking care of regular diet and medication needs of more than 200 dogs with his friends and has no intention to stop and want to continue these innocent little paws. We wish all the best to him.
