Mergers & Acquisitions: India records 221 deals worth USD 9.2 BN in Oct

Mumbai: In October 2021, India Inc witnessed 221 mergers and acquisitions (M&A) transactions worth USD9.2 billion, the largest number since 2015.

According to Grant Thornton Bharat Dealtracker, deal activity increased by 11 percent in October 2021 compared to September 2021. The volume of deals has doubled year over year, according to the report. According to Dealtracker, the acquisition of Air India by Tatas, as well as agreements in the start-up and IT industries, helped October M&A results.

"Rapid improvements in high-frequency indicators like as e-way bills, GST collection, power demand, rail freight, and export growth are boosting the economy. The current rate of growth is expected to re-establish economic momentum "Shanthi Vijetha, a partner at Grant Thornton Bharat, said. Positive domestic business optimism across sectors, as well as a global economic recovery, continue to support the overall trend, according to the report.
