NEW DELHI: In a big legal development, the Supreme Court of India granted bail to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday, a decision that Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Manish Sisodia believes sends a clear message to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Sisodia described the ruling as an emotional victory, asserting that it challenges the BJP’s alleged misuse of power. “This is a moment of great relief and joy for us. Our leader and political mentor, Arvind Kejriwal, is being released after enduring the BJP’s malicious schemes,” Sisodia told reporters following the verdict. He emphasized that the Supreme Court’s decision highlights the need for the BJP to cease its autocratic behavior. The case in question involved an investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) into an excise policy matter. The Supreme Court’s decision came in response to Kejriwal’s petitions seeking bail and challenging his arrest. Sisodia further criticized the BJP, claiming that the Supreme Court's order exposed the misuse of investigative agencies. “The SC has highlighted that the BJP is using agencies like the CBI as mere tools for their political agendas,” Sisodia said. He praised the court's affirmation of constitutional protections, noting that it serves as a safeguard against any form of dictatorship or abuse of power.
