Messi donated millions of dollars to Argentine hospital

Lionel Messi, captain of Spain's football club Barcelona and star player playing for Argentina's national team, has given a grant of 5 million euros to a hospital in his country to fight a battle against Coronavirus. According to the news agency report, Casa Garhan, the foundation of Buenos Aires, has said that Messi has helped with $ 540,000 (about Rs. 4 crores). With this amount, PPE kits have been donated to provide health workers with all the protective items.

"We are extremely grateful for this recognition of our workforce that allowed us to continue our commitment to the public health of Argentina," Silva Kasab, executive director of Casa Garhan, said in a statement. Forward Messi, a team from Barcelona, has allowed the Foundation to purchase respirators, infusion pumps and computers for hospitals in the provinces of Santa Fe and Buenos Aires as well as the autonomous city of Buenos Aires.

The statement further said high-frequency ventilation equipment and other protective items will be delivered to hospitals soon. This will benefit many people who are fighting this dangerous infection. Argentine star footballer Messi had earlier donated 1 million euros to a hospital in Barcelona to fight the coronavirus. Messi gave this amount to hospital clinics and public hospitals, which was confirmed by the hospital itself on Twitter.
