MG Windsor EV Takes Top Spot in October-Sales, Overtakes Tata, Mahindra in India's Electric-Car-Market

In a major achievement, MG Motor's newest electric car, the Windsor EV, has quickly climbed to the top of India's electric vehicle market. Launched in September 2024, the MG Windsor sold an impressive 3,116 units in October alone, making it the best-selling electric car in the country. This achievement dethrones the previously dominant Tata Nexon EV from its long-standing No. 1 position.

Record-Breaking October Sales for MG Windsor EV MG Motor India recorded a 37.92% year-on-year increase in overall sales, reaching 7,045 units in October 2024. The Windsor EV, accounting for 3,116 of these units, marked a highly successful debut month. Alongside the Windsor, MG Motor continues to offer other popular models like the Astor, Hector, Gloster, ZS EV, and Comet EV. The strong sales numbers in October 2024 made it the best month for MG Motor India to date.

The Windsor EV's rapid success can be attributed to its outstanding performance from the start. When pre-bookings opened on October 3, 2024, the car secured a staggering 15,176 reservations within just 24 hours. This made the Windsor EV the first passenger electric vehicle in India to achieve such high booking numbers in a single day.

Sleek Design and High-Tech Features Drive Windsor's Popularity Available in four stylish colors—Starburst Black, Pearl White, Clay Beige, and Turquoise Green—the MG Windsor's sleek and modern design has captured the attention of many buyers. The car, which is inspired by the Wuling Cloud EV, features an array of attractive elements, including full LED headlights, LED daytime running lights (DRLs), a slender light bar at the front, and a connected light strip at the rear. It rides on 18-inch alloy wheels and has a robust front bumper that adds to its bold look.

The Windsor EV's interior boasts cutting-edge features, including a spacious 15.6-inch touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support, an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster, and a stylish two-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel. Highlights inside the car also include a large panoramic glass roof, customizable 256-color ambient LED lighting, a premium 9-speaker Infinity audio system, and comfortable aero-lounge rear seats that offer a 135-degree recline. Front seats are adjustable to ensure added comfort for all passengers.

Advanced Safety Features Make Windsor EV Stand Out Safety has been a major focus for MG Motor in the Windsor EV, making it a popular choice among buyers. It comes equipped with a range of safety features, including a 360-degree camera, surround view technology, six airbags, electronic parking brake, auto hold assist, a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS), and electronic stability control.

Impressive Performance and Competitive Edge Under the hood, the MG Windsor EV features an IP67-rated 38 kWh lithium-ion phosphate battery, delivering a range of 332 kilometers on a full charge. It is powered by a permanent magnet synchronous motor that generates 134 hp and 220 Nm of torque. Fast charging using a DC charger can bring the battery to full capacity in just 55 minutes.

The Windsor EV faces competition from other leading electric vehicles like the Tata Nexon EV, Curvv EV, and Mahindra XUV400.
