New Delhi: The results of the West Bengal Assembly elections were released on May 2, 2021. As soon as the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) was assured of victory, there was a period of political violence in the state. The opposition, especially BJP supporters, had been accused of targeting their homes, party offices, on TMC goons. Frustrated by the apathy of the Bengal Police in these cases, people are now reaching the apex court in search of justice. The plight of the gang rape victims in the Supreme Court will make anyone's heart tremble. A 17-year-old Dalit minor has filed a petition in the Supreme Court accusing TMC goons of raping himself in the forest. The victim has said that she was raped for more than an hour by four TMC workers to teach her a "lesson" on supporting the BJP. The incident took place on May 9 when the victim was returning home with her friends. According to the minor, he was left in the forest to die after being gang raped. A TMC leader SK Bahadur reportedly reached his house the day after the incident. He threatened his family members when he lodged a complaint. He also warned of burning the house. The minor has appealed for SIT investigation and transfer of the hearing out of West Bengal.
