Mithali Raj biopic: Viacom18 Motion Pictures acquires rights

MUMBAI: The story of the Journey of the captain of India's women's cricket team Mithali Raj will be known to everyone now through a biopic. Mithali hopes that this would give the motivation to all the young women to choose the cricket game as their career. The  'Viacom-18 Motion Pictures' announced this news of Biopic on Tuesday.

The rights of this biopic are acquired by 'Viacom-18 Motion Pictures'. This studio in past had made films such as 'Queen', 'Manjhi: The Mountain Man', 'Bhag Milkha Bhag', 'Mary Com' and 'Toilet - Ek Prem Katha'.

The 34-year-old Mithali said in a statement, "I am very happy to join 'Viacom-18 Motion Pictures'. I Hope this movie will encourage young women to choose the game as a career"

Mithali is the highest run-scorer in women's international cricket and is the only such player in it. She is the only player to complete 6,000 runs in ODIs. Apart from this, Mithali is also the first woman player to have seven consecutive half-centuries in ODIs. She is also the first player under whose leadership the national team twice (2005, 2017) reached in the ICC ODI World Cup final.

Mitali has been awarded India's fourth highest civilian award Padma Shri in 2015 for her achievements.
