Aizawl: Mizoram CM Jormathanga has convened a meeting of all political parties, civil society groups, student organizations, medical associations, and church bodies on July 2 to discuss the situation related to the corona epidemic in the state. Officials said on Tuesday that the meeting will be held at 11 noon at the Assembly Conference Hall in Aizawl. The statement said the Speaker, Health Minister, and Home Minister will be present at the meeting. The same official statement said, "A resolution was passed at a joint meeting of all political parties, NGOs and churches convened by the Central Young Mizo Association on June 24 in Aizawl, after which the CM has convened a meeting.'' The meeting will also be attended by senior government officials including the Chief Secretary. Representatives of All Mizoram Village Council Association and Aizawl City Local Council Association will also be present. Mizoram is battling the second wave of covid and cases of infection are on the rise even after the lockdown which has been in force for nearly 70 days. PM Narendra Modi will also host a meeting of the Union Council of Ministers on Wednesday amid the possibility of the third wave of the corona. Sources said on Tuesday that the meeting is likely to discuss the corona situation and review the functioning of some ministries. The meeting will be held digitally on Wednesday evening. He said the meeting is likely to review the functioning of the Ministry of Road and Transport, Ministry of Civil Aviation, and Ministry of Telecommunications.
