The Union Cabinet met on Wednesday amidst the ongoing agitation by the farmers on the agricultural law. The meeting was held under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi, after which Union Ministers Prakash Javadekar, Ravi Shankar Prasad and Santosh Gangwar reported the decisions of the Cabinet. According to Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, the government will open 1 crore data centres in the country. The Prime Minister of this scheme is named Wi-Fi Access Interface, through which Wi-Fi revolution will be brought in the country. Under this, the government will open Public Data Office (PDO), no license will be required for this. Any present shop will be converted into data office. Approval will be given by the government to open a centre for data office, data aggregator, app system in 7 days. Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said that fibre connectivity will be added to the islands of Lakshadweep. Connectivity will be delivered from Kochi to 11 islands of Lakshadweep in 1000 days. Union Minister Santosh Gangwar informed in the press conference that self-reliant India Employment Scheme will be set in the country, which will cost a total of 22 thousand crores by 2020-2023. About 58.5 lakh workers will get benefits under this scheme. From March 2020 to the next year, those who are on the job, their EPF contribution will be given by the government. The government will provide 24% EPF contribution to companies with less than 1000 employees. According to Santosh Gangwar, when the Modi government came to power, there were 6 crore jobs in the organized sector which has now increased to 10 crore jobs.
