Modi Government's Vision for a Developed India: Budget 2025

NEW DELHI: Union Home Minister Amit Shah is praising the Union Budget 2025, saying it is a blueprint for the Modi government's vision to build a developed country. Shah believes the budget covers everyone, from farmers to the middle class, and every sector, including nutrition and health. He has also praised with Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman's budget speech, which announced the abolition of income tax up to Rs12.00 lakh under the new tax regime.

Shah took to social media to congratulate the beneficiaries, saying the proposed tax exemption will greatly enhance the financial well-being of the middle class. He's calling the budget "ViksitBharatBudget2025," emphasizing its focus on building a developed India.

Other leaders are also weighing in on the budget. Nitin Gadkari, Minister of Road Transport & Highways, calls it a "transformative blueprint" for empowering MSMEs, farmers, and the middle class. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has also praised with the announcement of a 12.7 lakh MT urea plant in Namrup, which he says will be a game-changer for the entire North East. In her address, Sitharaman also looked upon broader reforms in the power sector, noting that the government would incentivise reforms in electricity distribution and intra-state transmission. These measures aim to enhance the financial health and operational capacity of electricity companies, offering states the opportunity to borrow additional funds contingent on these reforms.

Presently, India’s total power generation capacity stands at 462 gigawatts, including 8 GW from nuclear power. The Finance Minister’s announcement is a significant step towards the nation’s ambitious energy goals, which align with the vision of a “Viksit Bharat” (developed India) by 2047.

In her budget, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman emphasized that the government sees the next five years as a crucial time to achieve "Sabka Vikas," which means development for all. She stressed the importance of balanced growth, making sure that every region of the country benefits equally. Highlighting India’s progress over the past decade, Sitharaman pointed out that the country's development journey and key structural reforms have caught the world’s attention.  The goal is to create opportunities and improve the quality of life for all sections of society, ensuring that no one is left behind as India moves forward.
