Ahmedabad: The Gujarat Anti-Terror Squad (ATS) has arrested Mohammad Sajjad, a Border Security Force (BSF) jawan who spied for Pakistan. He was from Bhuj Battalion in Gujarat. On Monday (October 25, 2021), ATS informed that Mohammad Sajjad was sending secret and sensitive information to Pakistan through WhatsApp. He is a resident of Sarola village in the Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir. He was given a posting in Bhuj battalion BSF 74 in July 2020. He has been arrested at BSF headquarters in Bhuj.
Mohammad Sajjad joined the Constable BSF in 2012 itself. He was receiving a lot of money in exchange for providing secret and sensitive information. He used to deposit these rupees in the bank accounts of his brother Wajid and partner Iqbal Rashid. His passport was made from the Regional Passport Office in Jammu. On the same passport, he has also visited Pakistan for 46 days between December 1, 2011, and January 16, 2012. Mohammad Sajjad used two mobile phones. One of these SIM cards was last activated by him on January 14-15 this year. ATS has extracted his call data record (CDR). The SIM card is registered in the name of Satyagopal Das, a person from Tripura. It was first activated on November 7, 2021.
Mohammad Sajjad had received two calls to this number. The SIM was deactivated on November 9, 2020, and reactivated on December 26. It was resumed on January 15, 2021, when an SMS came to it. It was an OTP of WhatsApp. Sajjad then deactivated the sim again. It is learnt that a WhatsApp account was active from this number which was being used in Pakistan. Mohammad Sajjad, a jawan of BSF, was in touch with the same man. He has also cheated BSF by stating the wrong date of birth. His date of birth on the Aadhaar card is January 1, 1992, while in his passport it is 30th January 1985. 2 mobile phones, 4 SIM cards have been recovered from him.
