Moldova to host next European Political Community meet

PRAGUE: According to Petr Fiala, the prime minister of the Czech Republic, the European Political Community (EPC) will have its next meeting in Chisinau, the capital of Moldova.

According to the Xinhua news agency, Fiala made the comments following the first-ever EPC summit, which was held in Prague on Thursday and featured over 40 European leaders.

Along with the member states of the European Union (EU), the so-called "EU+" group included a number of Western Balkan countries, non-EU nations that are heavily integrated into the single market, the United Kingdom, and Turkey. The energy crisis and issues of peace and security dominated the conversations among the European leaders, according to a statement released by the EU following the conference.

"At a time when Europe's peace and security are being endangered, we need more communication, more listening, and more mutual understanding, not less," said European Council President Charles Michel, according to the statement.

He said, "And that's what we accomplished at the inaugural European Political Community."According to the European Union , the EPC aspires to advance political discourse and collaboration on matters of shared concern and to boost the security, stability, and prosperity of the European continent.

The EU's top officials will convene on Friday for an informal summit to examine the most urgent problems the union is now facing, including the conflict in Ukraine and Russia and their economic repercussions.
