Monsoon all set to hit Telangana

The much-awaited southwest monsoon is all set to reach Telangana over the next 48 hours with Met officials predicting good rainfall. The southern states from the beginning of the monsoon season (from June 1) till Friday have received 18 per cent above rainfall than the normal.

The normal rainfall for the 14-day period is 70.5 millimeter (mm), but the pre-monsoon rain in these areas has been recorded at 83 mm.

The monsoon has started showing signs of a revival with the offshore trough along the west coast, which sets the thumb rule for intensity and spread of rainfall, showing some life.

It has reappeared as a feeble feature along the Karnataka-Kerala coast, just enough to nudge the rain belt largely over eastern India.
