Monsoon hit Goa coasts, people get relief from the heat

Panaji: The south-west monsoon, which was knocked down two days ago in Goa, has brought some respite from the heat to the people of the state. India Meteorological Department (IMD) has reported this on Saturday. The Met department has predicted moderate rain to lash the state for the next five days.

It said that the maximum temperature has been clearly recorded after the monsoon arrived here on Thursday.  "Panaji (North Goa) and Mormugawan (South Goa) recorded the highest temperature of 28 degrees Celsius," the IMD said. But there was no major change in the minimum temperature and the temperature remained normal in the northern and south Goa districts."

"The lowest minimum temperature recorded in Panaji and Mormugawan was 24 degrees Celsius," the Meteorological Department said, expressing the possibility of heavy rain at far flung places in North and South Goa districts.
