Varun Dhawan is enjoying the promotion phase of his upcoming film Badrinath Ki Dulhania which is opposite Alia Bhatt. During the promotion event, Varun talked about the film, "There is a lot of male chauvinism in the country and the movie deals with that. Somewhere I realise that we think it is okay. But it is NOT okay as you don't know the woman's perspective. I realised that because there are certain dialogues in the film, which was meant to be offensive and I felt, 'Well, I don't think any girl will feel bad with this. Maybe I should say more.' But Alia would be like, 'This is very insulting.' I never thought of it in that way. Sometimes we are alienting the female sex without realising. Generations and generations have passed and now we feel that it is okay. I started understanding it better after the movie." He added, "I worked really hard on modulatng my voice, to be a little manly. Shashank removed the Varun out of me and you will see a different person in the film." He also spoke about his favourite co-star Alia, "We have a comfort level offscreen, it kind of translates. More than that, I would give credit to Alia and me that we take our job seriously as actors. We didn't take it for granted that we have great chemistry. We worked hard, we did our rehearsals day in and day night. We were always saying lines to each other."
