Bhopal: A big announcement has been made in Madhya Pradesh regarding sickle cell disease. Governor Mangubhai Patel has given a major directive under which the scope of survey and investigation of sickle cell i.e. anaemia has been extended to the age of 40 years. Until now, only people aged 18 were tested for sickle cells. Governor Mangubhai Patel has extended the scope of the sickle cell investigation to the age of up to 40 years. For this, instructions have been issued by the Raj Bhavan to the officials of the National Health Mission, and the State Red Cross Society has also been asked to focus on expanding and strengthening the reach of sickle cell anaemia treatment and management efforts. In addition, even the smallest things were examined with seriousness, directed to cooperation in supervising, so that rapid work could be done towards the prevention of the disease. The same Governor had held a meeting with the officials of the National Health Mission, State Red Cross Society and Raj Bhavan at Raj Bhavan in which these directions have been given during discussions on the efforts to treat and manage the sickle cell disease. In fact, so far, only young people up to the age of 18 years and pregnant women in Madhya Pradesh have been screened for sickles, but now its age has been expanded to prevent the disease.
