Muharram: When this festival is celebrated, Know its importance

Major festivals of Muslims include the festival of Muharram. People of Muslim religion celebrate it with great pomp and show. Muharram is the first month of the Islamic year and this festival is celebrated on the 10th day of this month. People celebrate this festival in the sorrow of Imam Hussain's death. Imam Hussain was the Nawase (grandson) of Prophet Hazrat Mohammad, the founder of Islam.

When is Muharram celebrated?

Among Muslims, the Shia Muslim community celebrates this festival. The reason behind celebrating the festival is to remember the martyrdom of Imam Hussain and his followers. This festival is special for Imam Hussain as well as his 72 companions.

Importance of Muharram ...

The significance of this festival is that Yajid had increased the atrocities by 61 Hijri and Imam Hussain was against it. Then Imam Hussain fought the war with Yajid's army of 80 thousand. Husain's 72 companions were killed in battle, although Husain remained alive until the end. But one Yajidi killed Hussain during the Namaz one day and this day was the 10th of the month of Muharram. This day was made memorable and after removing the Tajiya, the martyrdom of the Imam began to be remembered.
