Mumbai City FC loses to Kerala Blasters in the ISL 2021-22 round.

On Sunday, Kerala Blasters defeated 10-man Mumbai City FC 3-0 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Fatorda, Goa, in a Hero Indian Super League match. Kerala got goals from Sahal Abdul Samad (27th), Alvaro Vazquez (47th), and Jorge Pereyra Diaz (51st, penalty) to climb up to fifth place in the standings with nine points from six games.

The outcome means Hyderabad FC, Jamshedpur FC, and Chennaiyin FC can now reduce the gap on the reigning champions. To make matters worse for the Islanders, Mourtada Fall was given the boot in the second half.

In the second minute, a pass from Ahmed Jahouh found Cassio Gabriel, whose shot was saved by Gill but only made it as far as the post before being cleared. Three minutes later, Igor Angulo was given a second chance from a Mandar Rao Dessai corner, but his effort was saved by the goalkeeper.

Vazquez's blistering shot was expertly saved by Mohammad Nawaz, and it was end-to-end action. Vazquez, who made several fine off-the-ball runs and found joy in the final third, was at the core of all Kerala moves.
