Murali Manohar Joshi praises Sitaram Yechury and said this

New Delhi: Former Union Minister and senior BJP leader Murli Manohar Joshi has made a big statement praising senior CPI (M) leader Sitaram Yechury. Joshi said that Yechury used to support BJP after taking care of 'Sitaram' as per his name. Joshi was speaking these things while addressing a tribute meeting held on Tuesday on the death of former Union Minister and Congress leader S. Jaipal Reddy. He said that we also sometimes supported him. Joshi said that by going beyond party politics, discussions on important issues related to the national interest have been halted.

Referring to groups of various leaders with the presence of leaders of other parties including Reddy and Left parties on important issues like intellectual property rights, he said that these groups used to have discussions outside party ideology. The BJP leader said that the tradition of serious deliberations on important issues of national and international importance in almost all political parties, beyond party politics, is almost over and this tradition needs to be revived.

BJP leader Joshi said that there are some questions which are important for the country and in some cases for the world. Discussing these is important not only for democracy but also for the future of the country. That needs attention. This will be a true tribute to Reddy. The former Union Minister said that such deliberations, which, apart from partisan politics, should be resumed by trying to think deeply about the problems of the country, keeping relations with their party for some time away.

In this tribute meeting, Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu, former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, CPI (M) General Secretary Sitaram Yechury, CPI's D Raja, senior socialist leader Sharad Yadav and Congress's Abhishek Manu Singhvi joined in. Reddy used to be a veteran Congress leader.
