Lucknow: On Friday, Muslims in Amroha expressed their discontent towards Congress MP candidate Danish Ali as he headed to offer evening prayers. The agitated crowd, opposed to Ali's candidacy from the Congress party, surrounded his convoy and attempted to damage his vehicle. Voices were raised against Ali, leading to a chaotic situation. Danish Ali, formerly an MP from the Bahujan Samaj Party, recently secured a ticket from the Congress party for the Amroha Lok Sabha constituency in Uttar Pradesh. Accompanied by supporters, Ali visited the Jama Masjid in Amroha before proceeding to Naugaon Sadat for campaign activities. However, upon reaching the Jama Masjid in Naugaon Sadat Nai Basti for prayers, his car was encircled by local Muslims. Amidst the commotion, Ali chose to remain inside his vehicle while a youth attempted to climb onto the car’s bonnet. Efforts were made by some individuals, including Pratik, son of MLA Samarpal Singh, to calm the situation. The irate crowd sought answers from Ali regarding his performance over the past five years, particularly in Naugaon Sadat. Only after the dispersal of the crowd was Ali's car able to proceed forward. The incident was recorded by onlookers and circulated on social media platforms. Two videos depicting the incident gained traction online, with allegations suggesting the involvement of individuals associated with the Samajwadi Party. Danish Ali, nominated by the Congress party for the Amroha Lok Sabha constituency, previously won the 2019 elections under the BSP banner but faced suspension due to accusations of anti-party activities.
