Vivek Agnihotri became famous by his movies ‘The Kashmir Files’. He is very vocal on different issues. He tendered an unconditional apology before the Delhi High Court for his remarks against Justice S Muralidhar. In 2018, the filmmaker put out a tweet against Justice S Muralidhar, currently serving as Chief Justice of Orissa High Court, after he granted bail to activist Gautam Navlakha. After the incident, The high court had initiated contempt of court proceedings against Vivek for his tweets alleging bias against Justice S Muralidhar as the judge had granted relief to activist Navlakha in the Bhima Koregaon case. Now the filmmaker has filed an affidavit for withdrawing his statement against the judge and tendering his apology. Vivek Agnihotri is a supporter of BJP therefore Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate slams the filmmaker. She wrote, “There's a new “maafiveer” (apologist) in town,”. The Congress spokesperson further wrote, “Nafarti Chintu (hatemonger) apologised in the Supreme Court, and also lied in front of the court that he had deleted the tweet, further adding, “The deletion was actually done by Twitter”. Meanwhile Supriya wrongly quoted the Supreme Court instead of the Delhi High Court in her tweet. Supriya Srinate further taking a Jib of her film . She wrote, “There should also be an 'apology file’”. Speaking of Kashmir Files was made on a budget of ₹15 crore and ended up grossing over ₹350 crore worldwide, largely due to strong word of mouth. The film, directed by Pallavi’s husband Vivek Agnihotri, dealt with the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits from the Valley over 30 years ago.
