Namotel: World's new cheapest phone

Namotel Acche Din, world’s cheapest smartphone as claimed by promoter Madhava Reddy, has been priced at just Rs 99 and is available for booking from May 17th till May 25th, 2016 – handset is 3G-enabled.

After Freedom 251 and Docoss X1, it's now Namotel Achhe Din's turn to acquire the tag of world's cheapest smartphone. Reddy claimed that Namotel is the world’s cheapest phone with 4 inch display and it runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop and is powered by 1.3GHz quadcore processor along with 1 GB RAM. It has a 2-megapixel rear camera along with a 0.3-megapixel front-facing snapper. The phone is powered by a 1,325 mAh battery and will be available in the colours Black and White.

According to International Business Times, the product listing for the smartphone carries a price tag of Rs. 2,999, which is believable. However, the company is offering the device for Rs. 99. The move does not make sense, literally, as with this price tag the company won’t be able to cover manufacturing cost.

The product would be available to Indian citizens only through registration that are said to be open on the company’s website and will stay on till May 27.
