A day to pay tribute to life givers: National Doctor’s Day

“Doctor is the second face of God” and to respect this god whole world celebrates Doctor’s Day on different days. In India, we celebrate it on 1st July of every year to mark the birth and death anniversary of renowned physician and 2nd Chief Minister of the West Bengal, Dr Bidhan Chandra Roy. He was felicitated by the auspicious award Bharat Ratna in 1961.

1882 borne doctor completed his graduation from Calcutta University and MRCP and FRCS degrees from London. After completing his degree courses he turns back to India and served at many medical colleges and hospitals in India. He attended Civil Disobedience Movement of Mahatma Gandhi and was elected as Chief Minister of West Bengal after joining Indian National Congress. After accomplishing his 80 years of service he died on his birth-date in the year 1962. Later “ Dr B. C. Roy National Award” started on his name to give tribute to the great man.

The Doctor is celebrated with the purpose to spread awareness to the public regarding all medical instruments, treatments and illegal activities etc. The day also memorizes the vital contribution of doctors in patient life and their importance in the world.

The day was celebrated in a different way like by organizing awareness programs, discussion programs, screening test camps, free medical services are also provided on this day to all people, people also give appreciation cards to doctors to thanks their support in common people live.

Hope the day will accomplish its purpose and illegal activities will get eradicated from the world of patients’ world.
