Nawaz Sharif’s party decided the replacement of his daughter Maryam

On Friday, the accountability court of Pakistan took a move against Nawaz Sharif and his family by announcing a 10-year imprisonment to the former PM and 7-year imprisonment plus two million pounds fine to her daughter Maryam Nawaz. Captain(retd)Muhammad Safdar, the son-in-law of the PML-N leader was also sentenced to jail for a year.

The verdict have barred the family members from battling the upcoming general elections in July. For this, the their respective party Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) (PML-N) have choose two other candidates who will contest from  NA 127 in Lahore and PP-173 in Punjab province. Notably, the constituency were firstly allotted to Maryam who is now impermeable to contest the elections.

Ali Pervez Malik, the Lahore wing president got NA-127 constituency. On the other end, Irfan Shafi Khokhar will fight for the PP-173 seat.

While working in accord to the courts order the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has also issued directives to halt the ballot paper printing for NA-127 and NA-14 (Mansehra) constituencies. Mansehra constituency was the target of Safdar as he was contesting from the same.

Reports claimed that the name of Safdar and Maryam will be replaced by the new contestant after receiving the order from the court.

Geo TV reported that Nawaz and family are all set to challenge the verdict that was announced in Avenfield reference case at Islamabad High Court (IHC). While Nawaz, after the court’s order expressed that he is not a thief and will soon return to his country, once his wife will recover from his ill condition.
