PM Modi to address 107th session of Indian Science Congress, gives new year gift to farmers

India's immediate Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the 107th session of the Indian Science Congress in Bengaluru today. On Thursday, PM Modi met Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa and Governor Vajubhai Vala at Raj Bhavan.

PM Modi is on a two-day visit to Karnataka, which will be concluded today. Earlier yesterday, the Prime Minister launched five young scientific laboratories of the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO). He also prayed at Sri Siddaganga Mutt in Tumkuru, where he addressed a gathering after distributing Krishi Karman Awards to the states.

In another function, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday gave the New Year gift by depositing Rs 12 thousand crores in the account of six crore farmers of the country. The farmers of other states are getting the benefit of this scheme except for Bengal. Taking a dig at the state government, Prime Minister Modi said that this kind of thinking has done a lot of harm to the people of the country. He hoped that the states which could not connect with the PM farmer would definitely join the scheme this year. The Prime Minister was speaking after attending a function in Karnataka.

Apart from this, the Prime Minister said, 'Our government has seen agriculture in totality, not in pieces. I have tried to deal with the challenges of this sector. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also gave details of the government's efforts in the agriculture sector, including irrigation schemes, crop insurance schemes, soil health cards, neem coated urea. He said that the government's focus is on future needs in agriculture.
