Apart from many states of India, now in Tamil Nadu, there has been a beginning of voices about NRC and NPR. Amidst these voices, the Tamil Nadu government has said that a resolution against these two laws can be passed by the Assembly. NDA ally JDU-ruled Bihar has passed a resolution against it in the Vidhan Sabha. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister EK Palaniswamy has said that the issue of passing the resolution from the Legislative Assembly is under consideration.

CM Palaniswamy has said that a resolution can be passed from the State Assembly against the National Register of Citizens (NRC) and the National Population Register (NPR). He was asked whether a resolution like NRC and NPR can be passed in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly as well.

Responding directly to this, the CM said, 'This is under consideration.' The Bihar Legislative Assembly on Tuesday passed a resolution not to implement NRC by voice. It also states that NPR will be implemented in the old 2010 format. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and JDU, however, supported the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). Palaniswami, like his Bihar counterpart NDA ally Nitish Kumar, also supported the CAA. The AIADMK had said that the CAA would have no impact on Indian citizens. Other ministers have given the green signal. As far as the CAA is concerned, not all Indians living in the country will be affected by it.
