New Delhi, February 28: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has urged people to use science and innovation to help build a developed India (Viksit Bharat). He shared this message on Friday as the country celebrated National Science Day.
National Science Day is observed every year on February 28 to honor the discovery of the Raman Effect by Sir C.V. Raman. He made this breakthrough while working at the Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science in Kolkata. His work earned him the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1930, making him the first Asian to receive this honor in science.
PM Modi extended his wishes to all science enthusiasts, especially young innovators, through a post on social media platform X. He encouraged everyone to promote science and innovation to help India progress.
To mark the occasion, the Prime Minister also shared a video paying tribute to C.V. Raman. He highlighted the importance of science in the growth of different sectors and states. PM Modi stated, “Curiosity is the mother of science… and every mind is naturally drawn to it.”
In his recent Mann Ki Baat program, he mentioned an initiative called "One Day as a Scientist," which encourages young people to participate in scientific activities.
Theme for National Science Day 2025
This year's theme is - Empowering Youth of India for Global Leadership in Science & Innovation for Viksit-Bharat." The theme aligns with PM Modi’s vision of encouraging young minds to innovate and drive India’s transformation into a global leader in science and technology.
The Ayush Ministry also highlighted its commitment to combining traditional knowledge with modern science. In a post on X, it stated that the theme will inspire youth to innovate in holistic healthcare.
Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan also extended his wishes to India’s scientists, researchers, and innovators. He emphasized India’s journey toward self-reliance (Aatmanirbhar Bharat), which will be driven by advanced research and indigenous technology.
Similarly, Minister of State for Science and Technology Jitendra Singh paid tribute to Sir C.V. Raman, recalling his remarkable contribution to physics and India's scientific progress.
