NCRTC Implements Solar Power Revolution Along Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS Corridor - The National Capital Regional Transport Corporation (NCRTC) is making strides in renewable energy adoption with the introduction of solar infrastructure along the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS Corridor. This initiative aims to generate 3 MWp (megawatt peak) of solar power, expected to slash annual CO2 emissions by 3,100 tons. Announced on Friday, NCRTC's solar power installation covers stations, depots, and receiving substations along the corridor, transforming them into centers of clean energy production. The corporation plans to expand its solar capacity to 11 MW, aiming to further mitigate climate change effects and reduce approximately 11,500 tons of CO2 emissions annually. Operational solar plants at Sahibabad, Guldhar, and Duhai stations are set to substantially lower electricity costs while promoting sustainable practices in public transport infrastructure. The solar power plants are now operational at Guldhar and Sahibabad RRTS stations, each boasting a peak power capacity of 729 kilowatts (kWp). Additionally, solar facilities are active at the Duhai Depot and Duhai Depot station, with capacities of 585 kWp and 108 kWp, respectively. Solar energy is also being generated at the Murad Nagar Receiving SubStation (RSS) with a capacity of 43 kWp, and the Ghaziabad RSS with a capacity of 20 kWp. Installation efforts are currently underway at other locations, as per the statement released. NCRTC anticipates a reduction of approximately 11,500 tons of CO2 emissions annually upon achieving the targeted 11 MW solar power capacity.
