“Justice can be delayed but not denied”, says NCW chief on SC refusal to the review petition

The review petition that was filed by the convict of Nirbhaya rape case in order to oppose the Supreme court verdict which stated that the culprits named as Mukesh Singh, Vinay Sharma, and Pawan Gupta should be hanged to death is rejected by the apex court in afternoon only. The order that was passed in May 2018 will remain as it is.

The rejection of plea is marked as “landmark decision” by Rekha Sharma, National Commission of Women (NCW). While speaking on the retention of capital punishment for the accused of the cruel act with ANI she said: “I welcome this decision as it proves justice can be delayed but not denied. It's a landmark decision. This judgment shows that law takes its own course in this country.”

Brinda Adige, the women activist state the all this review petitions as delaying tactics in the hanging and expressed that SC all four should be hanged to death: “This is a welcome order that the Supreme Court rejected the petition by three people but there were four convicts and what we have to understand that why the fourth convict has not made a review petition. These are delaying tactics. The apex court should put it down within this time period; all of those four should be hanged”

Meantime, another women activist Abha Singh pleaded to President Ram Nath Kovind to not give any way to escape the culprits if the filed for any Presidential pardon, while stating: “Now, it is a matter of time that they (convicts) would be hanged but yes they can always go to the President for Presidential pardon under the gruesome case. It merits no pardon. They should be hanged as fast as possible,”. She further stated: “Our request to President of India would be to do not delay and do not give any mercy to these rapists. Because a message has to go to all the rapists of this country that till now no further, the law is above you and it will catch you even if you try to evade the law and with increasing crime against women,”

The 2012’s rape case which left whole India stunned due to the cruelty that causes death to 23-year-old Delhi girl have changed and toughened the laws in India for rape case which is termed as a monumental move by the whole nation, on the other hand, there are some criticizers too.
