NEET UG, PG Counselling to commence in January

New Delhi: Undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) counselling for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) will most likely begin in January 2022. According to a statement released by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) on December 10, a case involving a 27 percent reservation for OBC students in AIQ medical seats and a ten percent reservation for EWS students in AIQ medical seats is pending in the Supreme Court and will be heard on January 6 next year, implying that NEET counselling 2021 for UG and PG admission will begin after the court's decision on the case.

The MCC statement states, "All candidates wanting to participate in NEET-UG, 2021 Counselling are hereby advised that the Office Memorandum No. C.18018/18/2015-ME-II dated 30.07.2021  is under challenge in W.P(C) No. 961 of 2021 before the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India."

"The hearing of the proceedings shall be scheduled for January 6, 2022," according to an order dated November 25, 2021 in this subject. This is for the candidates' benefit. "Issued with the approval of a competent authority," the statement continued.

The NEET PG and NEET UG counselling committees have also made a few amendments. The adjustments will take effect in the 2021-22 school year, according to MCC. There will be four rounds of counseling, as well as revisions to the seat upgrade process.
