Laxman says, 'Nehra became master of limited-overs fighting with pain'

Former Indian batsman VVS Laxman has praised former fast bowler Ashish Nehra, saying that he came back from injuries and became an important part of the team in limited-overs. Laxman wrote in the tweet, "Bowling career was short due to fragile body but Ashish Nehra battled back painfully and became a master in limited-overs."

Laxman wrote, "Reward from injuries sustained won the 2011 World Cup medal and the magnificent Farewell in 38 years." Nehra made her international debut in February 1999. He has played 17 Tests, 120 ODIs, and 27 T20 matches for India.

Nehra still holds the record for the best bowling performance in the World Cup. He took six wickets for 23 runs against England in the 2003 World Cup. He retired from international cricket in November 2017.
