Netflix Implements Password Sharing Restrictions in India

Netflix has recently announced that it has put an end to password sharing in India. From now on, only members of a household will be allowed to access a single Netflix account. This means that individuals living together in the same house can share the account, but those outside the household will not have access.

However, Netflix is also introducing new features to enhance user experience. Members within the household will still be able to enjoy the flexibility of using Netflix wherever they are, whether they are at home, traveling, or on holiday.

To enforce this policy, Netflix is sending out emails to customers who have been found to be sharing their passwords with people outside their household in India. This measure is not new, as Netflix had already implemented password-sharing restrictions in more than 100 countries, including major markets like the United States, Britain, France, Germany, Australia, Singapore, Mexico, and Brazil.

On a positive note, Netflix now allows paying customers to add an extra member from outside their household, but this comes with an additional monthly cost. To facilitate the process, users can transfer a person's profile while retaining their viewing history and personalized recommendations.

This move comes after Netflix's initiative to crack down on illicit password sharing in the United States, aiming to increase revenue from customers who previously shared their logins with friends and family outside their households.

Netflix has ended password sharing in India and restricted account access to only members living within the same household, while still offering some flexibility for users to manage their profiles and viewing preferences.
