New Ghat to come up in Varanasi, a Jain pilgrimage site

VARANASI:  Varanasi state will soon get a new ghat along the Ganga at Chandravati village, the birthplace of 8th Jain Tirthankar Bhagwan Chandraprabhu. The majority of the new ghat's construction is finished, said officials, it will open in a few months for use by Jain worshippers and others.

Chandravati, which is reachable via the Varanasi-Ghazipur route, draws thousands of Jain devotees from all over the world each year. The installation of a new ghat here will make the pilgrimage of Jain devotees easier.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minster Yogi Adityanath said, the project was initiated on his orders, and the majority of the project's civil work, totaling about Rs 17 crore, has been finished, according to Rajendra Kumar Rawat, deputy director of tourism.

The project would have a finishing touch in a month or two after only the green and changing rooms were currently under construction.

The Chandravati village, about 23 km from the district headquarters, was noted by the CM due to the significance of the location, and as a result, a project to build a new ghat along the Ganga was proposed here. The completion of this project will increase the number of pilgrims who visit Chandravati and make their journey easier.

The birthplace of the 8th Jain Tirthankar, Bhagwan Chandraprabhu, is believed to be the ancient city of Chandrapuri. Chandrapuri is an important pilgrimage site for Jains and holds great significance in Jainism. According to Jain scriptures and legends, Bhagwan Chandraprabhu was born into the royal family of King Mahasena and Queen Lakshmana Devi in Chandrapuri. The city is often associated with the divine energy and blessings of Chandraprabhu, and devotees from all over the world visit the birthplace to pay their respects and seek spiritual enlightenment. Chandrapuri is regarded as a place of peace and tranquility, where followers of Jainism can connect with the teachings and virtues of Bhagwan Chandraprabhu. The birthplace stands as a symbol of Jain heritage and serves as a source of inspiration for millions of people who seek the path of righteousness and spiritual awakening.
